I just got a new female P. regalis from a friend. I didn't have a chance to put her in the bug room immediately, and left her by the front door. A departing guest showed some interest, so I opened the cage, planning to chase her into view briefly. Well, she got a little spooked, and shot out of the cage and onto my arm, proceeded to do a lap or two around my body, and almost made it into a closet full of coats, boots, etc. Finally, I chased her back near her cage and I guess she found a place which felt safe, because she decided to stop running around and chill for a while. I used the opportunity to get a few quick photos.

I also got a couple of decent eye-shots:

She posed for me, motionless, for about 30-40 minutes. I then took the cage off the bench, and set it on the floor with the opening facing the bench. Without even being prodded, she walked slowly back into the cage right away, and climbed nonchalantly back to her hiding spot under the wood. Honestly, I think she just wanted me to take her picture....

Very pretty animal and some excellent photos there! I am also quite jealous of that enclosure. What kind is it?

Great story, gorgeous Regalis, and phenomenal photos!

Well done, Rourke, very well done indeed. :)

I see you have NO problems of getting the girls to pose for you.

Those are some amazing pictures. The story was hilarious.

Maybe she stopped there because she figured she'd blend in with the dust? ;P J/K

Thanks for sharing :D

OK, I feel I must clear something up here! When I attempted to chase her into view, I removed the cork bark from the cage, and some dirt and sand fell onto the bench. I cleaned it up after the photos were done. I'm not Mr. Clean--well, to be honest, some people call me Mr. Clean, but for entirely different reasons {D --but I am not such a slob that I would allow that much dirt and dust to accumulate on a piece of furniture!

Rourke, no need to hide your slovenliness from us. No one here would judge you :).

Beautiful pictures, what kind of camera are you using? (that must be the secret to great pictures, it can't be my lack of photo skills)

Oh, SURE! No one here would judge me.......! {D

The pics were done with a Nikon D70. I got the oculars with a Quantaray 70-300 mm lens, standing about 5 feet away. For the others, I was very close, using the stock Nikon 18-70 with a Quantaray +4 magnifying filter.

I'm positive this camera is capable of much better pics, actually, but I am a total amateur and have a fair bit of learning to do!

Almost lost T

I had done that very same thing the other night in the critter room with my H. maculata. Difference being that mine was about 2 inches from entering a crack that leads right into my neighbors house. It was let him go or try to cup him with my hand and risk being bitten to get him back to proper care.

It feels helpless and that the whole world stops when one takes off on you!

Those pics are beauties !! Remember... even the 'speedsters' have to stop and catch thier breath at some point. As long as they don't go in that "crack", they'll eventually stop to breathe. Why you guys have those jackrabbit Ts I'll never understand {D

I just love the eye pictures! I've had simular excitement with my regalis. I have a girl the same size as yours and man, do they grown fast as well as run fast. Pokies are just the coolest T's.
