Hello everyone. I just received my first sling of this size. I had bought flightless fruit flies ahead of time and dropped two in just in case it needed to eat. However I noticed the flies are almost the size of the spider itself! Should I remove the flies? Is 2 too many? Should I be prekilling them? Do I need to find a different kind of fly? I know slings need to eat every 1-3 days however I realized now that I can’t seem to find how much at a time. I apologize for my incompetence; sometimes questions only come up when you run into them I suppose...

Eresus walckenaeri hunt in the net, so wait until a corresponding net is built. These are extremely effective even for little ones and the food usually sticks. The vibration alerts the spider and comes to the prey, which is killed or paralyzed by the poisonous bite. Then there is eating. They use the net to create relatively large prey. Alternatively, you can offer springtails.
Put them on absolutely DRY. No wet substrate, no spraying - I don't even offer water until they are subadult.
