I went out and found a very nice 5½ Gal Screened , Locking Topped Aquarium. I then bought a sheet of plexiglass some clear cauk and divided the tank. Later that night I filled the 1 side with water ( to make sure there were NO leaks , gaps ) . Now my question is .. I plan to house a Green Bottle in 1 side maybe 1.75" and a Red Knee 1.75" in the other side. Since these are great looking Ts and since I really want ALL my Ts. Is this a bad Idea? Ive surveyed the areas rather well seee no possible ares except where the divider meets the screen , and were talkin 1/32" of inch or less here . I just dont wanna end up with 1 T ! That would be a BAD thing ! On a lighter note I was cleaning my shed yesterday and found a hole chewed in my plastic utility box ( I keep all my Xmas lights in ) . I dumped everything out wondering what the @*!$ ? And found 4 baby field mice , eyes were still shut . Kinda cute .. anyways .. thanks for any info on the divider tank !

I'd maybe wait until they get a little bigger. Both are quite capable climbers and I've had T's that size squeeze over my dividers. My tanks were exactly like yours with a very small gap also. It's really amazing what size gap these little guys are capable of squeezing through.I've got bigger T's(adults) in divided aquariums and they can't get through..but these little guys.I'd say you'd be risking it for now.If you're going to try it,I'd say at least put something along the divider to at least add some weight on top of the screen to prevent any separating/lifting of the screen to help further ensure they can't squeeze through....peace..

I always hear horror stories about how there were no spaces and 1 gets over the divider. I personally get separate enclosures for all of my T's. I figure if I'm spending money on the T's I shouldn't take any chances on losing one that way.

The divider gap.
For one, I would cut the frame in the middle of the screen lid so that you can open one side or the other while keeping one side closed at all times. Or buy a pre divided cover that is hinged in the middle.
After cutting the fram you can chalk a bead a little at a time along the op of the divider to fill the gap. Just add a bead, let it set, add another, let it set, until there is no gap. Then set the lid and run a bead Through the screen, afixing the middle line of the lid to the partition. Giving yourself a "hinged" divided cover with no gaps for the T's to work with.
Or you can drill holes along the top of the partition in the middle and wire it in place.
Either way it will enable you to keep one side closed while working with the other.
One lid means both sides are open, and T's can be alot quicker then their varius species reputations.
Murphy's laws work.
Why take unnecisary risks?

I would just get two separate containers for them. For the most part T's are solitary animals. Having a divider will bring them unaturally close to each other. They may not be able to get to each other but they will defenitely feel the others presence and movements. I am sure this will cause some type of stress. Save your self the trouble and house them separately.
