Nice looking setups. Why are they making you nervous? Although, I couldn't wait when I found a local guy and met up with him to pick up a couple of t's. I couln't sleep the night before.
I want to get some A. versi. too.

They are only making me nervous because I have read that their speeds are like super normal and their bites are nasty... The only Critter I have with speed at the moment are the OBT's and Pokies.. I might have a couple others with some decent speed.. But like I said I read these have super normal speeds..

I dont mind though they are gorgeous and I want some..

I only worry avout the versicolors because of the SADS.. I have already lost one that I really enjoyed.. I am finally taking the step to give them a try again...

What is SADS? I haven't heard of that before. I have a small OBT and was also worried before I got that one. It was a freebie. It is actually nicer than the new river I have.
Post pics when they get in!!

Sudden avic death syndrome.
Avics commonly die as slings for some reason.......but as soon as they get past that stage or at least to SA/adult,they are normally ok.

Yeah just what Paul said about SADS..

I have only had a problem with the A. versicolor as a sling and I also have lost 2 H. villosella slings... I know they are different SP. but these are the only critters I have had trouble with..

My A. avicularias are perfectly fine.. Of course they both are over 3 inches..

Stephanie- I will deff. take pictures as soon as I get them..

P.murinus (OBT) are probably one of the most bullet proof species of tarantula there is.
You would need dynamite to kill one of those......only joking but you get what I mean.
Your P.murinus will be fine so stop worrying and enjoy one of the best baboons there is ....just don't take any chances with it because it will not hesitate to tag you and if it does.....you are in for a long night of pain:)

w00t!!!!!! Another S. cal convert!!!! {D {D

The only way to learn to keep an S. cal is to just do it....there is no other T that can compare to this one.......Except for (maybe) my psycho P. cambridgei. In all honesty Tommy, the S. cal is the ONLY one..uhh....er...two that you SHOULD be worried about. Wait, you got TWO of those things?????? My ONE little girl is plenty enough of a handful for me, LOL. Good luck!!!!!! {D

Here's what you can expect:
The S. cal is a wicked-fast species. Lilith quite effectively makes my Pokie look slow by comparison. They are also extremely mean, but they won't start becoming obnoxious until they hit about 2 - 3".....that is, until that time you can expect relatively few threat displays. Afterwards, they will start coming after you if sufficently disturbed. And believe me when I say that it does not take much to do so!!!!!

Otherwise, they are such an awesome species to keep. Most of the time they hide, and will retreat if the actual cage is disturbed while they are out in the open. Mine will put out her molts an boluses well away from her hide for me....sometimes she will stick one to the side of her web just so she can give me the occasional heart-attack, LOL (Ah-Ha!!!...gotcha good Dad, how about a hug??). They are entertaining eaters.....a few days ago I gave Lilith a roach, and she went bonkers mauling the thing for five or ten minutes before dragging it off into her Web of Doom.

When they do show themselves, they will stay out for a while. Until they notice you, and then they will subsequently disappear (quite literally!!!!!....I have seen this happen more than a few times). To my knowledge, I've not yet seen a pic that is nearly as beautiful as the real thing. Definately my favorite-looking baboon!!!!

BTW: you might want to increase the ventilation in your enclosures (especially for the Avics), but what a job you did!!! Awesome!!!!!

bingo.. but i would do this for all the enclosures.. what i have found works best with the plastic containers. is put holes on the bottom. and around the sides were the substrate is.. aswell as right above the substrate. this creates air flow and decreases mold.

Haha great additions. Good luck getting the OBT out of the Vial.... I just got a 3 inch. It tried to murder me LOL i had trouble getting it out. Eventually it came screaming out like a bat out of hell. And luckily, i escaped a few nights of some real real Serious pain.

Stromatopelma's are a cool cool Genus of T's. I find them very interesting. Although at the moment i havent gotten an S cal. Some research suggest they have WELL above average potency of venom. And there some of the quickest spiders youll find. But i think there Just Stunning to look at.

Looking forward to it keep us updated!!!:D

Very nice enclosures. Only thing that I have to point out is that G. aureostriata is now G. pulchripes.
