I'm making an enclosure for my water snakes, half pond/half dry land. The tiles will be set on top of large rocks and gravel. I figure tile will be easier to clean when concerning these .. "fast digesters" I'm trying to find some natural stone tile, no dyes, chemicals, etc. But I can't find them. What are they called/Brand and where can I buy them? Thank you!

I don't know of a particular name or brand for them, but have you tried your local tile stores or even a masonry supply? I find a lot of interesting flat, "tile like", stones at my local masonry supply.... but I've seen some nice natural stone tiles at regular ol' tile stores, too.

Call around to some stores... ask for slate tile.. marble... limestone.. etc. I'm sure you can find something that will work for you. I just can't think of any "brand" names. Sorry.

We have a local rock yard out here. Maybe check out a yard supply store in your area. It is possible that there is a place that specializes in stone.

If you want natural go to a rock yard. The best one in Wisconsin is probably Halquist Stone. You can usually find bulk rock at aquarium stores but they are always overpriced. The easiest kind to use would probably be slate, but there are a number of options. Also, if you don't have a copy already, be sure to pick up "the Art of Keeping Snakes" by Philippe De Vosjoli. It has some really good info on setting up a vivarium for water snakes. ~ Rex
