I couldn't find any that I liked so I had an idea to print out my own. Its got a little more "evil" look to it.

Anyone else got unique backgrounds different from the typical ones you buy in stores?

Salamanderhead what kind of substrate is that? Do i see bark chips? Also, what kind of T are you keeping in there?

Salamanderhead, is coconut husk like coco fibre, or is it in chunks?

Also, i know this is just a personal preference thing, but i like backgrounds that are made of bark and the like. That way the background does not detract from the T in any way, because to me the T should be what your eye is drawn to in an enclosure; not a picture of skulls. Seems like it is screaming 'I'M HARDCORE' and not 'look at this incredibly beautiful animal'.:?

Haha I think you're taking the idea of a background a little too seriously {D
It just makes it look a little more unique then having just a clear see through "white wall behind it" look.

That's why you do this or this. i agree that just seeing the white wall kinda sucks, but even in our fish tanks we just use a piece of brown fabric. i want people to walk up to the tank and focus on the T, not the skulls in the background.

i do understand this is an opinion and that T keepers vary as much as their pets.:D

Not a lot of people come over here so its not a big deal haha. Its for me.
Besides, regardless of what the background is, once the tarantula inside the enclosure moves all attention goes to it. I want an ocean/ starry night sky for my other tank.

Those are cool Rob but Im not that skilled haha. Printing out a few peices of paper is easier for me :p.
I have a foam background that came with my 5 gallon exo terra tank. I didnt like using it though because it had 2 small openings on each side of the top and crickets or whatever that was in the tank would climb up and go behind the foam and stay there.

Not for a T, but here is a back ground that I made for a Tokay Gecko enclosure using Robc's real bark tutorial. It really isn't that complicated, but the bark can be a pain in the butt to work with since it is hard to cut and tends to break where you don't want it to!

Your background is awesome and the oceans/starry night thing gave me an idea... how cool would it look to have the Van Gogh Starry Night as the background! Whoaaa. haha! {D

curiousme: I see your point, however I have to disagree... I'd definitely notice the background, but once that tarantula is moving, all eyes will rest on it no matter what unless the background is blinking or something... which would be truly weird, not to mention stressful. LOL. :p

Thats a cool idea. I wouldn't do it though because I have a poster of that painting not far from my tarantulas on my wall. : p
