Hi!

My H. Pulchripes is due for a rehouse after its latest molt - it’s a little over an inch now so still quite small, but certainly needs a larger enclosure as it’s rearranged the whole thing and buried its water dish and anchor points completely. I already have a bigger enclosure from a past T but it’s bigger than what I’d draw up in a perfect world for this one (enclosures pictured, not yet set up of course) but I’m not sure if it’s too big of a jump in size, or if that doesn’t matter. I’d ideally like to use what I already have but I’ll buy something in between if that would be better.

Thanks in advance for advice!

I'd go for it, as long as you can keep track of the T and the burrow is accessible for you to feed it should be alright. No cage is technically to big it's just the smaller the spider and bigger the cage is harder too keep track.

I use catch cups but you could try the bag method I forgot which site it’s from though. I always put my containers into a larger bin now ever since I lost an obt many years ago it looked dead then bolted and was never found. A cage that large might be overkill but if it doesn’t burrow away too deep or lose track of it it’s possible it could work. Wait and see more opinions I never jump multiple cage sizes that fast.

Yes perfectly doable in that enclosure, catch cups are my go to, but what definitely helps is doing the rehouse inside a larger container, then you can be extra paranoid and put that larger container inside you're bathtub, blocking off any plug holes. Doing this, if the T does bolt, the distance it now has to run to get away from you, has greatly increased.

Also looks top opening? I'd leave a little extra room in there, these guys will fill it with webbing anyway so no need to worry about fall damage, but could be annoying to open if it ends up webbing to the lid.

Good luck with the rehouse, just remember to stay calm, worst thing you can do is be nervous when rehousing any spider never mind a fast old world lol.

Keep us updated.

You have to make sure it eats in that size.
If that’s an arboreal setup, you should use a terrestrial box instead, fall death injury happens

Thank you!!! I was thinking of doing it in the bathtub but I like the container in a bathtub suggestion. I’ll update later :)
