Hi erm my emperor scorpion is standing up really high on all 4 legs (his body high from the ground compared to normal scorps) and i was wondering why he was doing this? he only recently started doing this and i think my last scorpion did the same thing but it died couple days later 0.0 im worried that its gonna happen to this one

also side question my last scorpion when he died he was all stiff, when i turned him over it looked like his stomach was sucked in? what happened?

thanks

the elevated positon you are seeing is called "stilting". scorpions use this method to control they're body temperature. nothing to worry about. :)

in regards to the stomach being sucked in. I'm assuming it's pretty much because of the fact that their internal anatomy is compartmentalized into sacs. for example, the heart is enclosed in the hemocoel, which houses the heart. blood gets through the lungs and into the hemocoel, where the heart pumps it to the rest of the body, which is pretty much an open cavity. oxygenated blood can then bathe the organs. where the scorpion dies it wouldn't maintain the same internal fluid pressure and would also desiccate. Therefore, it shrivels and cavities implode. that's my guess at least
