Emperor scorpion arching her back?

Can anyone tell me why my emperor scorpions some times arch their backs like the substrate of the cage is too hot??? The temperature of the cage is never too hot. Yesterday it happened and the cage was only 84.9 degrees F. The substrate is bed-a-beast not dry but not at all soaking wet. There is a nice size water dish in the tank that they bathe in (not too deep for them to drown) that I clean every day to every other day. They are all eating fine and no signs of problems except for the arching of the back thing now and again. Plenty of hiding spots, about 4 inches of substrate, 20 gallon tank, 1 male and three females in there. I Just don't understand why they arch their backs like that sometimes. I'm hoping that they are just stretching or something. If anyone knows why they do that or has any ideas I would appreicate the help! Thanks!

Yeah, letting some good air flow in between the knees :)
I keep my guys 85F-90F in the day and lows of 73-78F for the night period.

If you have some extra substrate laying around you could add 2-3 inches more depending if they have burrows already or not. If they do you can just grade it as the would if they started with 6+ inches of substrate around the entrances.

I have a Q&A in my signature I worked up I'll need to add this to is as well.

Thanks for the replies. I needed some reassurance that nothing was seriously wrong with my Emps. I will add a couple more inchs of substrate for them (I knew they needed more I was just being selfish...The more substrate they have the more they burrow and the less you see them-good for the emps but bad for the owners). I checked out your caresheet (Cyris69) and it was very helpful! The breeding videos were very helpful also! The Thanks again for the replies!!!

No problem man, good luck. Also, when you add that much substrate make sure your topper is locked to the tank or weighted down pretty well. Emps will use their tail to push themselves up corners of the tank or from hides to get out. Just wanted to warn you I forgot to in my last post.
