It had been about 5 days since my scorpion last ate so I put 3 crickets in his tank and he won't eat them. I have put them in the last 3 nights and he still hasn't eaten them is he just not hungry or is something wrong? It's been more than a week now since he has eaten anything. I have a 15 watt bulb and my temp stays around 78-80. Is it too cold? Hunidity stays around 88-90% I have spaghnum moss and cypress mulch substrate which holds the humidity well and the scorp pretty much stays hidden under a log hiding place in the corner. The crickets even go in there and crawl on him and he doesn't kill them and I tried handing him a cricket with feeding tongs and he let it go. ??? Thanx in advance for the help.

Temp is on the low side of 'good' and the humidity is fine. Scorps are notorius for going on a fast for up to several months depending on the species...emps commonly do this from time to time.

There is also a possibility it is nearing a molt if it is not a mature adult. If it is an adult then there is nothing to worry about for quite some time as most scorps can live months before starvation sets in.

I keep mine 85-95F and would probably increase the heat a little. I have read, and have noted, males seem to be more finicky in their eating habits. My two females will nearly always take a superworm from my hand (or forceps if they look pi**ed), but the males only sporadically do this. I have heard of males going on 6 month fasts without sequelae. However, I would probably be a nervous wreck by that time.

I do not believe he/she is a fully grown adult because I just bought the scorp about a week and a half or so ago...I thought maybe the temp was low and that may have something to do with it, but he may be very well be near a molt or fasting...who knows. I fed him a lot when I first got him and he ate about 5 crickets then 5 days later he won't eat anything. We'll see what happens when I raise the temp, but how can I tell if he is near molt? Just wait until his exo starts coming off? My humidity is high enough so he should be fine molting.

It was definitely the temp thanks everyone for the help. I switched the heat lamp over the top of his hide to warm him up and in the morning all 3 crickets were gone...I think it was just too cold on that side of the tank so he wasn't real hungry.
