Emp never goes out of his burrow

Hello,

I´ve got a 4 month old emp. I bought him(?) 3 month ago. In the beginning he was quite active and he was exploring his new enclosure every night, but after some weeks he got very calm and stopped eating. I assumed that he will molt very soon, and I was right, he did it last week in his burrow.
But since then, I have never seen him entirely. I only see him sitting in the front part of his self digged burrow at best, and he is still not eating. Is that normal?

How often do you see your emps, or do they also stay in their burrows?

The temperature and the humidity seems to be okay. By the way I made his enclosure according to this information thread about emps in this forum.

I´ve got a further question: the molt is still in his burrow. Should I remove it? But therefore I have to destroy his burrow.

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't worry too much about the moult but if it starts to mould up you want to remove it. It is not unusual for them not to eat after a moult -- if he doesn't eat in another week then I'd really start looking into it.

Now, as for not seeing him -- that is generaly a sign that you are doing things right. There are some creatures that make lovely display species, but emps aren't them. Actualy, the most common complaint I get after helping people set up their emps is that they never see them anymore. I assure you that the emps are better for it, though.

Cheers,
Dave
