Emergency!!! Mites..

First time in all my years dealing with mites. Can we help identify what kind and treatment?? Only 2 seem to have been hit and have been quarantined but will go ahead and dry out all the rest with no food.

Any more experts please and thanks.

Not an emergency. Just dry the enclosures a bit (as long as the species you keep can handle that) and they’ll go away in no time. They’ll be just fine.

Have you looked at the picture you posted? I ask because you seem to be expecting a mite ID based on white specs. Typical grain mites are only 1mm in length. Do you see any details in your picture that could help anyone know if what you circled is a mite or mere dust?

If so-called grain mites, keep container dry and clean it. I have strong reason to think mites are also attracted to T poop IME.

Mites are never an emergency and quarantining spiders is useless since grain mites are everywhere anyway and basically unavoidable in the long run. Sometimes they even turn up in completely dry enclosures. And its beyond me why you think starving a spider is a good idea when there are mites in the enclosure. Even parasitic mites are not an emergency. Did you recently get a wild cought spider? Otherwise these are grain mites since parasitic mites are tarantula specific and need to come from somewhere. They don't just appear out of thin air.

If you really want to know about mites read this. It's written by a biologist working about mites, i.e. someone who actually knows what he's talking about.

i had mites in a p murinus enclosure. Of all places… this summer. No more mites. I litteraly did nothing. It came with the feeders. Petstores keep their feeders like garbage. I also don’t use potatoes because of that.

i know this is an old thread, but its always relevant.
