You are soo lucky! I'm allowed to keep roaches, scorps, and T's, but when I asked my mom if I could keep Black Widows, she looked at me like I was insane. Good luck with the slings!

If you have trouble finding pinhead crickets, like I did you may want to try Drosophila. Carolina Biological Supply Company carries a wingless variety for feeding to spiders, fish, etc.

Thanks everyone!!!
It took about an hour with 2 people to seperate them. It was exciting. Were hoping none got out. We ended up with 158 cups. : )

She just laid another eggsack last night.... we will see what happens.

Drosophila? I'll will have to check that out if I can't find pinheads.... thanks so much!!

the most egg sacs i've seen a california black widow drop is either 9 or 10, but the last 2 or 3 were dry fires, i think

the *first* 2 or 3 were all pretty packed with pintsized piders :)

and a black widow that lives in a hole in the ground in my backyard seemed to have *two* eggsacs at the same time... and she would bring them up to get some air (or whatever) in the day and then bring them back down into her hole. at least one of the eggsacs has hatched :)
