Ephebopus are one of my favorite species.Wait until it settles in.They make cool burrows and are great eaters..taking just about anything any size you throw at them.Very fast and a little on the skittish defensive side.A great species and a good looking species also.Enjoy your new spider...peace..

hey

Great pics. murinus is nice.

I'm still waiting for my cyanognathus to grow up :(

but Ephobepus is a nice genus with some attitude.

their a unique genus that is overlooked sometimes.

Have a nice day

Nice pics, really distinct 'bones' (;)) on your specimen too

Out of interest, have you experience the Urticating hairs from this species yet? I've had one for a few weeks now, and it hasn't unleashed any. I've read many accounts of them releasing them via rubbing the femur of the pedipalp against the chelicerae, as of yet I havn't seen it happen though.

It's strange, the arboreal appearance combined with burrowing tendancies...

Oh, don't you think "Murinus" ('Mouse coloured' I think) is under-ambitious for describing this species!?

Nice pics! Mine is about the same size, maybe 3.5 , but should be molting pretty soon now. I'll try to get some pix then. Ephebopus is probably my favourite genus.

I was curious about that myself. I had a E. rufescens (who since molted out male...sent out...never heard from again  ) that was very flighty but never deployed any urticating setae in defense. I actually never really tried to push it to that point but I always watched during routine maintenance just in case but to no avail.
Makes you wonder why Ephobopus evolved with the urticating setae right next to the fangs? :?

Mine did urticate at me once, when it was about 2". It used a flicking motion, rapidly scraping its pedipalps againts its chelicera. I didn't catch any of the hairs however, so I don't know how potent they would have been. Nowadays she just bites.... a lot.
