dysdera crocata questions

Hello,
First time posting but I have been reading for a while. I got inspired to go hunting for some local dysdera crocata to try my hand at raising. I had a question on feeding though, and I wanted to know if these guys will eat dwarf white isopods, or if they require a larger isopod size. I had also heard they were communal, to a degree, but will males or females cannibalize the young of other females (I know the mom won't eat her own young, but will the others try a bite), and will they cannibalize if food is low? Also, I was wondering about territory size; I got a 10 gallon tank and I wanted to make sure it wasn't too small/large (from what I've read though, this should be fine).

Suggestions are always welcome too
Thank you!

They will eat it all. You also might lose some to cannibalism. Put in 20 gallon and have food readily available at all times. Good luck anon

Thanks so much for the info and advise! I'm glad to know they will eat the dwarfs. I had assumed 10 gallon would be good because I had read they make silken nests and then just chill there most of the time, but it sounds like they might roam a bit more than expected.

Not for the roaming but for added space. Dunno how many you plan on putting in there. I don’t really advise communals, but if you’re going to try it, that’s what I would do.

Gotcha, I wasn't thinking more than 4, maybe 2 if I can find them. I'll aim for the larger tank and place rocks for their dens in the corners so they don't need to be too close to each other. Thanks for the advice!

Ahh.. then a 10gallon will probably be fine.

What would the definition of "communal" be?
If it means social, absolutely not. If it means they are peaceful and don't cannibalize, absolutely not.
If it means they can live together, sort of. The adults can coexist to some degree because when they encounter each other, they lock legs and bare their fangs at each other, often leading one or both to yield. This prevents cannibalism to some degree.
However, they are so aggressive that they will fight a LOT if they overpopulate a tank.
