I found some salamanders and believe they are desmognathus fuscus and desmognathus ochrophaeus. Has anyone had any experience raising these? I currently have them in an aquarium with some damp moss and a small water dish. I have some black worms -- will they eat those? I have also been giving them fruit flies. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It's a shame we don't have more amphibian keepers on these boards.

Some of them are only an inch long, but others are about two inches long. Any suggestions on how to take care of them?

I'd say a 20 gallon long would be fine.A good substrate would be maybe coconut bedding with sphagnum moss on top.Provide a shallow water dish.Small crickets would work for food and they should be able to eat the worms, as long as they are not too big.As far as temperature goes with most salamanders room temp is usually good and maybe around 70-80% humidity. The only salamanders I have kept are tiger salamanders but the care should be pretty much the same.
