dubia vs. lateralis... together?

Simple question: can dubia and lateralis roaches be kept and bred together in the same (large) Tupperware enclosure, or will they attack/eat each other or otherwise kill one another?

I doubt it's recommended to keep them this way.
I'm sure its ok, but by no means ideal.
They're so different really, in many ways..

I don't think it's recommended. I have a colony of each and I keep them in separate enclosures. I don't know for sure, but I figured better safe than sorry. Besides.. I am OK with Dubia. Not fond of the lateralis.. too fast for me.. my hubby deals with them.

But that's just it: doing research, it seems they both want it humid, neither kind need substrate, both eat the same food and water crystals. So, where's the difference? I just wonder if they can actually co-exist.

Also: the reason why I wanted to try lateralis was for the mellower tarantulas that simply have a hard time finding the dubia once they go in, since they're fond of playing dead. But yeah... I've already discovered how fast lateralis are!

I am quite sure if you looked in the Insects and other invertebrates subforum, or performed a search, you'd get a much better answer. You would probably also find some good reasoning for or against.

I searched and couldn't find this specific subject readily... but then went back, and I did see this reference:

Sounds like it is doable, from what this user says.

I did it, not on purpose but accidentally.
It didn't work.
The slow growing rate of the dubias make them vulnerable. They can't catch up with the lateralis, who compete with them for the food and nesting places.

I remember reading a thread on this and I'm not sure if it was on this forum or another... but just as easily as male B lateralis will eat hatchling lateralises, dubia will do it too. It has been experimented with before and to maximize your roach output as far as the colonies would go, it's a much better idea to separate.
