Sometimes looks like the roaches have movement or arthritis, looks like they're trying hard to move but they can't really get far. Not sure on recovery but I think most of the time, they just die. It almost wiped my colony out but now they're bouncing back. It seems to get all size of adults, but I see most being babies and juvs but maybe because there's more of them.
I keep them outside with temperatures sometimes dipping 65 but it happened during the summer too. Then it gradually disappears with fewer and fewer deaths. Is it vitamin deficiency or hydration issues? For food I give dry dog food mix with 15% oatmeal and for hydration AND food I give apples that I've boiled with water to get water out of. After the 3rd time which also lands on the 3rd or 4th day, I go out to feed them.

Way too cold, cockroaches need furnace temperatures, especially to breed, the hotter the better.
Also make sure the substrate is dry, I used to use Vermiculite and keep it dry.
Damp, moist substrate will kill them.
