Air holes are one of the most important thing when keeping or sending inverts.
Here's what happens when you don't put air holes even for simple insects like these.

aw that's sad. I always make sure when sending roaches to provide food, cartons, veggies, and lots of ventilation. Sorry to see your loss...it is sad indeed.

It smelled like fart when I opened it. Like a jar of canned fart being opened for the first time.

That's happened to me before. Usually more to do with heat. I got a T in the mail once and I knew it was dead before I opened the box. It was sent overnight too. Yuk.
