Anyone ever had a dog that was diagnosed with crucial ligament ruptures in their dogs knees? My 3 yr old rott/lab has them in both back knees, just wondering if anyone had luck with keeping them rested for months and being so young if they recoop and heal>>? Too expensive to have surgery im afraid.

You should probably be asking a vet about this. However, I'm leaning in the direction of rest not being a replacement for surgery, and a good chance of your dog ending up in pain/crippled for life.

Your dog will not just heal and recoup from this. You will have to get surgery to correct the problem if the ACL is completely torn. How do you expect to keep a puppy rested for months at a time? You will run the risk of tearing the other ACL as well. There are medical treatments if the ACL is only partially torn but you need to give medications. Rest alone will not do a thing but prolong the problem.

my sister had both hips on one dog operated on and then her other dog had knee problems, that needed operated. cost her (i think) 800$ each surgery. she also had to take her cat to the dentist all the time. her animals are her babies.

Your dog will no recoup on its own. If you have to get a surgical proceedure to correct the problem. I took a loan from a family member to get my dog's knees repaired a few years ago.

My spot had one knee blow out, and had to have suture surgery on it. A year later his other knee has blown out. He's a light dog though (under the 50lb max for the suture replacement surgery) and is able to have the cheaper one than the bone reshaping surgery.

It's genetic. Breeders are too worried about hips, but the growing problem today, seen in many bully breeds as well as larger breeds, is the defective ligaments in the rear legs.

This food has the chicken, chicken meal first two ingredients.

You can most likely switch cold turket without any problems. Get a 5 pound bag and see how your dog likes it. I will reinburse you personally if your dog doesn't like it.

My manager switched his dog from eukanuba to this. within a month his dog was jumping up on the couch again and acted more vitalized.

nothing will make this problem go away, it's a torn ligament, useless, surgery is the only option, he is wanting to play as it is and he may very well tear it again once he has been down for awhile trying to recoop. i wish it were that easy, all iv'e ever heard is the surgery is the only way. Well he will be on meds from here on out....
