My silly dog tried to play with a spider like she does with grasshoppers, only spiders bite back. Pretty positive it bit her muzzle somewhere, but don't know as of yet what sort of spider it was, and we have brown recluses and widows all over our porch. It's under a jar, for my boyfriend to look at when he gets home. Is there anything I can do for my dog? What should I watch for, and how soon would any bad reactions occur if it was some sort of poisonous spider? Thanks in advance guys :)

If you have the spider under a jar, do a search for back widows and brown recluse and see if either of them look like the spider. If one of them does, call the vet immediately! If they don't look like your spider, your dog should be fine.

That's a scary article! Luckily, it was just some sort of wolf spider, so she is good to go. I know we have had recluses on the porch before though, so I really hope she never finds one. IF it had been a recluse, I'm sure I would have lost her, it got her on her muzzle and she's small.

If your dog get's hives from the bite give her 25mg of benadryl per 20# of weight. If eyes and face start to swell you need to take her to vet for steroid shot. Her throat can close quickly so keep an eye on her, Check every 15 min. Since this happened yesterday and you have not noticed anything I'm sure she's fine ;)
