I have a 4 yr old daschound. For the past few days he has been way out of character. And has been eating but very little. All he wants to do is sleep. I have checked around his paws (unless there in a under his nails) but i see nothing there. He has been kinda limping lately to.He has been growling (more than ususal) as well.

Here are some of his out of character behavior
Normally he is trying to drag me when he is outside when he is leashed but I have been pulling the leash to make him walk

Not trying to chase cars when he is at the end of the rd when before he always tried to (leashed of course)

When my granfather comes over he is normally excited to see him but today all he wanted to do was go inside.

I may end of taking him to the vet if things don't change soon. Anyone else have had this problem.

I think you should take him to the vet on rather short notice... My parents dog acted exactly the same way and did only get worse over the following months. It all ended with a last trip to the vet :( . I can't remember what the problem was but needless to say it was bad.

I hope you doggy is or will be in better shape soon, but go to the vet I'd say, just to have a checkup.

Sounds like a dog that is in pain. Given his breed and behavior, he might have injured his back. I suggest an immediate vet appointment. Please let us know what the vet says.

That's good! I hope that they find whatever is wrong and that it isn't anything serious.

I just came to think of it, maybe your dog has a twisted stomach? But I wouldn't really know the symptoms since I've never "seen" it but I would imagine it could react like that.

I'd be willing to bet that he is developing spinal disk problems, which are very, very common in Dachshunds, and if left untreated, will result in eventual paralysis. He seems to be in pain, and that would definately do it.
