Hi guys,

I’ve just been viewing scolopendra heros arizonensis (the centipede that Coyote Peterson featured and feared) feeding videos of them obviously in captivity and I was wondering if they would make a good pet?

Supposedly they're one of the best - big, hardy, visible and typically quite calm. But for us Australian's, they're not an option.

In regards to centipedes, yes, they are a great species and a hobby favorite. And Coyote Peterson’s video is full of crap. Granted, mine’s just a 4” juvenile, but when I got bit by it, I experienced nothing more than some localized pain and swelling. I absolutely love mine! But as you’re in Australia, I don’t think you’ll be able to get your hands on one :( But hey, you guys have some pretty cool species in Australia that nobody else can own! :)

I am content with my only two inverts which are my Ethmostigmus rubripes and my hadronyche infensa but I would like a scolopendra heros arizonensis as well but you’re right, I cannot get one because I live in Australia and they’re live animal importing and exporting are extremely strict! But yeah that’s that. Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated

I am not totally upset and peeved about their unavailability as I still do love my ethmostigmus rubripes and my hadronyche infensa (my only inverts I possess) to heavens, but yeah, I wish I had a scolopendra heros arizonensis though.
