My prize possession! She is just stunting and I wouldn't sell her for anything...well, may be for an ounce of pure gold but I don't see anyone doing that. Hope she is gravid???

Ugly as home-made sin. You should send her to me so you don't have to look at that abomination any longer. :D

Nice pics. :)

correct... she is definitely the 'highland' form. There are very few 'lowland' forms in the US compared to the Euro hobby. I'm fine with that though b/c the HL form has much more contrast than to LL form.

Yeah I consider myself quite luck to have obtained her.

When I bought her a yr. ago he said that he was having trouble parting w/ her b/c she was one of the most exquisite specimens he had seen... now that is saying alot coming from Michael.

I guess harassing people to the point of breakdown for one of their prize spider does pay off!:D

Nice subfusca girl you've got there!

And they're ALL highland subfusca...quit with the "highland" or "lowland" poo. Both color forms come together in the same sacs...there is NO difference!
Subfusca does not occur in ANY lowland areas...they all live in trees in the highlands of Sri Lanka...

Does 'lowland form' really exist or urban legend?

See I thought that was the concensus about a yr ago and now even ppl like Jacobi and reputable dealer will agree that there is a "lowland" form; stockier and larger (6-7+), and darker coloration especially in the abdomen (less contrast).
Perhaps I am just miss informed? Anybody out know what the scientific concensus is...

Thx you for the link... somewhat informative but I knew most of that.

The first four pics that are mentioned are all of the 'highland' form.
It is true, these spiders have a rainbow of colors throughout.
I was outside photographing mine in the sun and I was amazed not only by the purple that refracts off of her but if you look at her in a different angle there is actually irradecent ( I need spell check) green that comes off her.

So yes.. lighting does play a huge part on what these look like.

I do know that there is an other form out there, mostly in the european hobby. If you look at post by euros they usually have the 'lowland' form. It is more of a hazel-brown color and the abdomen is darker blackish-gray lacking the 3-4 tiger stripes, which mine definitely has. I would be able to see them better if she would just fatten up....but she is no pig, she has self respect.

If she is gravid it will become more apparent and there will definitely be more post of her.

thx again for the info,
DeTwan
