Equipment: Nikon Coolpix5000 with Nikon microscope (magnification x80).
Sorry for bad quality but in this microscale making photos is very difficult.

First photo shows mite on beetle Bolitophagus reticulatus.
Next ones were taken from my terrarium with carabid beetles.

Sweet animals, aren't they? ;P

EVIL little things. Just looking at one might spread it to my whole collection. ;) I hate these things. I had to clean too many tanks to rid me of these things. They even took over the soil that my plants were in.

my personal thoughts on mites

Kill the mother, Kill that little bastard right now! DIE DIE DIE

Best way to deal with infested tank is This remove your T from the enclosure place Enclosure in an industrial microwave and cook for 5 minutes at FULL POWER , Serve piping hot

When cooled fully replace T , now you have no mites :)

I think mites are quite interesting.

As long as they aren't infesting my other critters

Some of them are pretty neat looking and colorful. Too bad they are so small.

I'm with Ruri_Hari on this one. Fascinating animal, keep it the hell away from my babies!

I hate them but I have some white ones in my tanks. They seem to don't bother my spiders. I keep my tanks dry with no misting at all, just water dish and they only appear in water dish. :?

MICROWAVE !?!?!?!?!?!

NO way..

Mites are a CROCK POT thing.. microwaves dry them out and they get chewie.. a little cidar vinegar helps with the flavor..

Bon Apetite !!
