Hi All

I feed my springtails/Collembolas with dry yeast, and the dry yeast is always germinating. In order to avoid this, I'm thinking about to boil the yeast, but I'm not sure whether the springtails can eat the dead yeast?

Thanks.

I feed mine a mixture with nutritional yeast as a main component, which is already dead when you purchase it.
I highly recommend it.

You’re welcome! You can use brewer’s yeast as well, which is also inactive. Any kind of yeast may mold a bit of it is not eaten quickly, but I have noticed that if I feed lightly 1-2 times daily, the springtails usually eat it all before the next feeding. If I feed more heavily, I just wait until they finish before feeding again, but they really seem to thrive when I feed lightly and frequently.
