Do spiders reuse other spiders webs? I am curious because I noticed a different spider using a different species "retreat". Has anyone had any experience with this before? Thanks!

I see it all the time. Depends the spider, depends the web/location.

On my property I have "communal webs" as I call them, that are over 5+ years old, and get used by various spiders over the years. Some have 10+ egg sacs in them (old and hatched) from 4+ species of spider! Most spiders do not build their webs with anything sticky on it, which allows for use by other spiders if they so desire.

I was talking about this a few threads ago, forgot to post an image. Here is a mature female T. gigantea sheet, that a mature female Steatoda grossa built a scaffolding web off the bottom. These two spiders literally traffic and catch food from the same sheet, while ignoring (tolerating) each others presence. It's all about the food supply.

It does depend on the spider in question. I've seen a few "borrow" others' webs.
