Do Brachypelma boehmei (Mexian fireleg) tarantulas exhibit sexual dimorphism?

I'm being sold a 3 in B. boehmei and I;m wondering if these tarantulas show sexual dimorphism so I can tell if its a male or not. I might be getting sold a male that's close to maturity or something 120853955_762324434550011_5350542131036177358_n.jpg

Hi
that in the picture is not B boehmei .
It looks like Aphonopelma sp most likely calcodes.
Regards Konstantin
thanks, i'll ask the seller. to be fair, he did say it was in premolt so that might attribute to it looking a bit more dull-colored.<edit>

Hi
with both species the difference becomes obvious only when males mature.Untill then both sexes look identical. You will need to wait for a moult to be able to sex it with accuracy
As for being with dull colours one species is red while the other is tan colour no matter how dull colours are. Also the overall look of your T is more Aphonopelma sp shape not Brachypelma.
Pics below is B boehmei about 2 inch and already shows the red.Second pic with dull colours before it went in premoult.

At 3 inch it will be red no matter how dull colours are.;)

That is not a B. boehmi, in any way shape or form. Bad seller. Either no clue, or trying to rip you off. Should be avoided.

Not a B. boehmei. Looks like an Aphonopelma, probably chalcodes.

Sexual dimorphism generally only occurs in mature specimens (there are exceptions like L. nigerrimum/P.ornata which are dimorphic as juveniles but they're uncommon) so immature specimens will look practically identical. If you want to know the sex then you will either need to get a clear ventral shot focusing on the area between the first pair of book lungs (examples here), or wait for a moult.
