Do adult millipedes have to have calcium as well?

Hi,
So I was wondering,
I've heard people say it's necessary to get calcium for millipedes, but considering the fact that mine will never molt again as adults, is it still necessary? I've thought it was something you only gave to millipedes still growing. Sorry for the dumb question!

In my experience no millipedes, babies, juveniles, adults or otherwise, have required a source of calcium by itself. They may appreciate it, but it isn't something they have to have.

Hope this helps,

Calcium is always good to have because it strengthens their exoskeletons. I can’t say for sure whether it’s still necessary after their last shed, but I’d guess that you can never be 100% sure if they are finished shedding and a strong shell is always good!

I should also note that many millipedes continue molting after reaching sexual maturity; what species are you asking about @Crocodylidae?

It may help somewhat but not to an appreciable degree.

I have a Telodeinopus assiensis and a Archispirostreptus gigas, do they still molt even as adults?

They may be considered adult, but it takes a whole lifetime of a millipede to grow to full length, and once they are full length they won’t be living much longer. So yes, probably.

I don't know for the former species. For the latter species there are no known verified instances of a post-ultimate molt.

Thanks,
