DKS / Dyskinesia survivors?

Hi all,

A few weeks back, I came in the possession of an Acanthoscurria geniculata with dyskinesia. I had seen worse cases, but it had the well-known spastic and jerky movement and it moulted in the meantime. I had the idea that as long as a tarantula with dyskinesia managed to moult, it would likely be alright.

After the moult, she (now confirmed female) still suffers from dyskinesia. When disturbed, she makes uncontrolled spurts through the enclosure. She does not seem to have a problem eating, so I am not too worried anymore. I am just wondering what her chances are to make a full recovery. Has anyone have any stories about tarantulas recovering from dyskinesia? Or should expect to just have one spider in my collection that is a bit spastic?

I have heard stories of Ts recovering fully from this.

Maybe she will be much better after the next moult. I am pretty sure she was poisoned with topical flea treatment. The previous owner has about 20 cats. Anyway, I will post updates.

My nephew got a C. laeta with DKS after their previous owner treated their dogs for fleas. Took 2 molts, but after that it recovered and was behaving normally. IDK if he still has them as I haven't heard them mention it recently, I'll ask them about it later today when they call.

I have heard other people talk about theirs surviving so long as they molt out okay.

That sounds very promising. I've heard other people say they've heard stories of survivors (not just in this thread, but am still glaring enviously at my comrades above in this thread!), but I haven't heard firsthand.
Please let us know how this works out, to give me a firsthand account.

That's a relief. Thanks!

She is eating like a champ and about 4 inches. I'd say we will see quite soon if she recovers after next moult.

Much appreciated!
Sorry it took so long to check back in, teething toddler kept me busy.

Nephew says he still has her. Took 3 molts to
fully recover, but that you'd never know anything ever happened to her now.

Just a little update: my A. geniculata moulted for a second time. I cannot see any of the previous symptoms, so she has fully recovered from dyskinesia. :D
