Hi all,

In the winter, we don't heat the house enough for me to have my betas just sitting in fish bowls with a lamp on them, I want to have them in tanks with proper temperature control. In the interest of saving counter space and possibly money, I'd like to divide a tank down the middle. I figure I can put some fake plants along the divider, or have an opaque one so they don't constantly trying to kill each-other.

How do I do this? I seem to remember seeing tank dividers in a pet store once but the only exotic pet store in town just closed down.

I use to use dividers in some of my reef tanks to keep my seahorses away from my more aggressive feeders. I used some similar to the ones in this link. These can be purchased almost anywhere. The dividers I used had small holes in them and were not easy to see through. I don't think they will be able to see each other through it.

I just had to do this in a semi-urgent situation. The Petsmart in my area didn't have dividers, and I couldn't wait for an online order.

I went to the craft store and bought a sheet of plastic canvas. I cut it to size and used silicone to secure it to the bottom and sides of the tank. Like you said, I put plants on both sides of the plastic canvas to block their view of each other.

The water flows very nicely through the divider. It has been in place for about two weeks now and works great.

Yeah I use plastic sheets when I'm not using glass because for some reason I've never seen dividers in stores. I should probably add that I only use glass in partial divisions for things like creating different levels of substrate.
