Play some quiet, sexy music. HA!

Actually, mine took off right away. Temp is around 80 during the day, and down to maybe 74 at night. I feed flaked fish food, with occasional veggies. Provide plenty of space to hide (I use egg crate, with cork separators in between.

Are you positive they're NOT breeding?

I keep mine pretty much the same way and mine are doing just fine

I just set up a colony a week or so ago. My conditions appear to be by the book. They ate ravenously at first, now feeding has slowed down a little. I leave a good amount of food/waterbites in there with them.

I never considered myself a roach person, but they are pretty cute little guys!
Hope they begin to breed soon:)

Roaches appreciate high temps(85F-95F), darkness, lots of places to hide and abundant food/water to reproduce. I feed dogfood and supplement with oranges, greens and carrots. There is a belief that the occaisional addition of dark olive oil(once a month) to the dog food or to some whole grain bread will help increase breeding or successful births.

Warmer temps encourage faster growth rates, faster breeding, and faster gestation periods. I keep my colony in a spare 10 gallon tank with a small UTH hooked up to a rheostat. Warm side temps are 95-100 degrees minimum. There are lots of egg carton stacks and paper towel tubes to allow them to thermoregulate. I've noticed that they do have a preference for kitty chow over fish food. I offer fresh fruits and veggies a couple times a week. I started with all nymphs about a month ago, and I've already got adults and a second generation of itty bitty nymphs.
