I recently acquired a D. Pelon/D Spitzeri from a local shop and I can't find much info on their care other than they are an arid desert/mountain species. I just want to know more about his care and venom potency.

They love to dig deep so have 4” or so of substrate. Keep them dry and lightly mist every so often. Venom is like a bee sting.

Alright thank you, I paid for a centruroides sculpturatus, but got him and was a little stumped once I opened the enclosure with what to do with him.

From my experience, when they are small they can desiccate rather quickly, so just make sure to have an area that is slightly wetter then the rest of the cage and it should be fine.

Hope this helps,

what substrate did you use? I just got a very small spitzeri and I have him in coco fiber right now with one moist corner.

I used a mix of coco fiber, sand, and peat moss. Kept about half of the enclosure moist.

EDIT: He passed away from old age a bit ago hence the usage of past tense.

so did you use 50% sand or less? I forgot to mention that I already have peat moss in the substrate as well
