There are a lot of similarities, and there are quite a few species that I can't distinguish, so what makes them difference?

Theraphosidae, actually, should be the right name for 'Tarantulas' :banghead:

'Tarantula/s' went viral in a no media time era when the 'viral' word was an epic ante litteram one if compared to today, but, cool or not, like it or not, Theraphosidae is the right and correct name for those (Tarantula/s).

Tarantula/s basically means something related to Taranto/Taranto whereabouts (Puglia, Southern Italy, former Taras town).

Funny thing not funny IMO for add more, this not correct term that was used/abused by English speaking people mostly, lead French and (some) Italians as well people, to call those "migale/migali - plural" and French "Mygale/s". Utter garbage.

Jesus Christ... Theraphosidae. So damn easy :)

Tamerlan Thorell FTW

Just to add on to what was already said here, Tarantulas (from the Family Theraphosidae) are in the infraorder Mygalomorphae. Mygs are a more broad classification of arachnid, so it includes a lot more of them. To further distinguish groups from one another, they are then broken down into genera (genus) and then from there species. Theraphosidae is just a chunk of Mygalomorphs that exist worldwide.

So, in a nutshell, all tarantulas are mygalomorphs, but not all mygalomorphs are tarantulas.
