Did you get anything invert related for Christmas?

I brought a 20 gallon to put my roaches in, now they have more room, more places to molt, and more places to hide.

I bought myself an Androctonus bicolor (I suspect I'll have it Friday or Tuesday) and various husbandry additions for the terrarium.

And stay away from Zoo Med's vita-sand. Yes it comes in stunning gorgeous color choices but the product cakes everything it touches. Replaced this substrate with playsand from Home Depot and baked a proper measure of that in a deep roasting pan lined with aluminum foil in the oven at 250F for 90 minutes, removes all the damp clumpiness and potentially hazardous humidity inducing moisture.

But, seriously, most of my seasonal invert purchases will be in the new year, because the online dealers/stores of choice are shut until the 2nd.

I got 3 Holothele sp. norte de santanders, 3 Haplopelma lividums, and 2 Brachypelma vagans ( all slings ). Also got a macro lens for my camera, so now I should be able to take better photos of my new pets.

One of the gifts my parents gave me was the book Insects: Their Natural History and Diversity: With a Photographic Guide to Insects of Eastern North America by Stephen A. Marshall. It's a monster of a book and is definately not a field guide. It weighs almost 7lbs! I can't recommend it enough.

I will have my first centis and millies. One neon blue leg Scolopendra mirabilis , one blue ring leg Ethmostigmus trigonopodus , two yellow legs Ethmostigmus trigonopodus and 3 desert millies Orthoporus ornatus . I am very excited can't wait really.
