Did this tik toker just try getting her dead jumping spider to mate?

<edit>. The people using this chinese spy app clearly aren't self aware.

edit: reading through the reddit thread, the general consensus is that she posed this dying spider for a video to get views. And after, she posted an older video when the female was still alive for damage control, but people called it out because of the shirt she had on and they knew it was old. How much more evil can you get? I am sorry, but I do not consider these people as equals.

Apparently, this was the jumping spider that got her famous in the first place. So her “doing it for the views” seems more likely. I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt that “oh maybe she’s in denial”

But look at the spider. LOOK AT HER. The spider has clearly passed and the video is edited in such a way in a poor attempt to mask it.

It’s really disturbing to be honest. :(

I'm visualizing presenting a paper to a professor that contains a tik tok reference. That steely eyed stare as the prof wonders how you got into her/his class. How you managed to even operate a doorknob.

My professor showed us a tiktok last Wednesday lol, it’s not too far fetched

I'm sorrry for my private moment here. Thinking about your astrophotography thread contributions I immediately suspected the class is a preparatory course for budding Asimov Award contestants.

That’s pathetic. Why I hate tick tok and most social media platforms
Bingo! I agree wholeheartedly.
I have never used Tik Tok, seems like people have been warning us about it. Some of social media helps bring people together and offers a way to provide information to people. But too much of it is about revenues and status through clicks, likes and views.

And please don't forget to click Like, subscribe and otherwise support me if you would like more ramblings from my lackluster mind...

I found most social media platforms and its users are rather irresponsible with their arachnids. Views> well being of the animal almost always comes first.

Also, what upsets me the most is that the poor jumper didn’t even have a peaceful death. It was either in the process of dying or already dead. My god. Let her rest for god’s sake.
It’s just sick as hell. It’s very hard for me to believe the user believed she was alive.

OP posted an update in the reddit thread. It seems the "bug lady" is committing to the lie. Really disgusting behavior, she claims the male pinned her down with webbing which all of us here know is not something that Phids do.

This really makes me angry. I have been upset all day since I saw this. I just hope karma comes back to her somehow <edit>

Update: OP of the reddit thread deleted her reddit account, likely due to the hate she was receiving from Tiana the bug lady’s fan base. Very sad.

What are yalls thoughts on this video I link below? Should we eat our words and admit to being wrong? I'm just not sure. Is this some kind of editing trick from a previous video? Contrary to what me and literally everyone else has said, the female appears to be alive in this new video. I'm trying to make sense of this.

No this can very well be there mating ritual. I have never bred p regius so I don’t know how they mate. But misinformation is not my main complaint with social media and there was no movement in that female in the original video.

I could be wrong, but comparing the Reddit video posted on here and the one where she's explaining things on TikTok, the spider seems to be acting different. In the TikTok video, the spider clearly moves trying to get away from him. Even if it's just moving her leg. In the reddit one, she doesn't move at all. There is also a difference in the webbing put on her by the male in the reddit video and the one in the TikTok video. There's also another video on this lady's TikTok that has the two spiders side by side and the female does not move at all and her abdomen looks a little duller than in her "reply" video. Like I said, I could be wrong, but still seems suspicious to me.

I hate to sound like a schizo person or paranoid, but a small part of me wonders if she filmed this in advance when the female was still alive, knowing people would call her out over the dead video? I have seen people do such things and worse.

That's what I was wondering. Either that or she's using an older video to try to cover. The videos are just not consistent. She appeared to be a pretty lively spood in the one video, but didn't move at all in the other. Besides, if she wanted to debunk, she could just video the female by herself and show her off as opposed to showing mating videos. I know if people were accusing me of using a dead spood in a video, I would release a video showing the spood itself doing fine.

Tom Moran’s jumping spider mating video for reference:

In one of Tiana’s tik tok’s she posted “Rose” and the jumping spider was black and white/silver. That was not Rose. Rose has different coloration. Her defensiveness is unnecessary and she also fake cries in one of her videos about these accusations.

Rose also appears to have webbing all around her, indicating that she is too elderly and weak to just brush it off or clean it off herself. My jumpers never have webbing stuck onto them, ever.
Ugh. Whatever.

It looked like the same spood to me, but I just don't see where it's normal for a female to be completely still and not move at all during mating. Especially, when she has been a lot more lively in a previous video. Not to mention, the poor spood's abdomen is so big. The only time my girls' abdomens have been that big was when they were gravid. My girls are audaxes, but still.

She actually looks alive to me her legs are pulled in but not death curl. I've seen phiddipus females stay still like this to let the males just do their thing I guess a sign of being submissive. Not that my input matters now seems like the tiktoker was already under fire.
