Death Curl or Scared?

Here is a Bonnetina Minax (Mexican Copperhead). I have had it (not sure the sex) for about 2 months. It has never taken to a hide and usually just kind of walks around its enclosure. Today I saw it like this. I did attempt to prompt movement with a paint brush, and it moved somewhat. I put the water dish near it. Since I have had it, it eats with no problem. The abdomen has always been this small. I would give it a few crickets and it would eat what it wanted, and I would remove the rest. Water dish is always full, I overfill it somewhat to get the some of the substrate below the surface wet. I did just add the hide (dome) in case it wanted to hide somewhere. Like I said, it never used the hide I previously provided it. My next move would be to put its mouth part into the water.

I wrote this before taking this picture - now I think it is just scared. Not sure what prompted it to be this way when I entered the room but has moved slightly. Was on the other half of the leaf in between the top part of the post and this paragraph.

Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance!

Can't be sure from the pic, but it sure sounds like a mature male at the end of its lifespan.
It could be. I checked on it recently and it moved into the hide, so hopefully it was just scared, and the hide will help it feel better. And if it is on deaths door (natural causes hopefully), at least it can feel safe in the hide. Appreciate the assistance!
