Darkling beetles

Over the past few weeks I've got wild caught darkling beetles and they were alright but than I gave them some oat meal (as I was told to by the internet) and now multiple are dead, is this just a coincidence? Or is there something with this? Thanks!

Did you cook the oatmeal? Cuz it should be raw. I use wheat bran and quick oats. Just all dry. And add cut up pieces of carrots. But just one small piece of carrot because the oats and bran will become too soggy. They just need the carrots for something to drink along with their food. Or you can use potatoes, again raw, but I found they smelled bad after a bit. The carrots are easier to locate and throw away once they dry out.
