I have been trying to cultivate darkling beetles for the past 6 weeks. The first time everything was fine an my super worms hatched to beetles until 3 weeks later they all died one by one. The same happened to the second batch. Im wondering if this has anything to do with their diet, or the temperature?

Their diet is exclusively cucumbers, while the temperature here in my country is usually around 30-40c due to summer. Anyone has the answer to this?

That's basically just water. I would add carrots for them to munch on. I feed mine a diet of lettuce and carrots daily and add banana or apples about once a week or so. I also replace the uneaten food everyday with fresh stuff to keep it clean.

Room temp is fine. Even if the temp drops for winter it only slows them down a bit.

How many are you trying to start with?

Another tip to avoid any waste - once you have an established colony of worms, if you drop the uneaten food from the darkilings into the worms they'll devour it and you won't have to throw anything out.

I see. I must have been pushing them to their limits only providing fruits once a week. Ill add one every two days starting now, thanks for the help!
