Hey guys! I know this is not quite in the right section but this is about as close as I could get. Ever since a few weeks after I got my bearded dragon roughly 6 months ago there has been a faint dark spot on his back. It has slowly grown in diameter and has become more and more dark. I suspected that it was just some kind of discoloration and nothing major as it did not seem to be bothering him but today I brushed my hand across his back and he flinched when I touched the spot. Any clues as to what this might be? I figured i would post here before going to a vet.

Might be fungus. One easy way to tell. Connect with a lab and get them to take a scraping and culture it. Another more primitive method would be to select a certain small area of the spot and apply a minute amount of neosporin or other topical antibiotic 3 times a day for a few days.

Of note, fungi infections penetrate into the dermal layers so they remain after shedding.

A fungal infection is what I was thinking. I will apply some antifungal cream.
Just go very VERY VERY slow and cautious. Fungicides are POWERFUL biocides. Watch closely for adverse reactions for several days between treatments. The animal's slow metabolism may not reveal adverse effects for quite some time.

Our cat licking mop water off the floor that had fungicide in it put her at deaths door for 10 days.
