I've had this blood sucking mite kill collections of centipedes I've had along with a couple of scorpions. Right now, I have one centipede I received in the mail that has these. I'm experimenting with it. I think I received it on the 15 of April. I've read that these need soil to reproduce. So I'm keeping the centipede in a plastic container with no substrate and a cap of water. They look to be thinning out but it still has some mites. I think it's working. There are allot of old threads about this. I'd do a 'search' to read more.

I've got a feeling my vampire mite infestations in the past have mostly come from mealworms you buy at the pet stores. I know they get on everything but I've seen thousands, millions crawling around in mealworm containers. Since I started the hobby....again....a year ago, I haven't bought any mealworms. I haven't gotten any mites either. I'm not getting any more mealworms!!!

I had also problems with these bloodsuckers. Maybe it can help to put the animal in a closed tank without any decoration and add some "silica gel". These gel absorbs the water so the humidity gets very low. Many small mites have no respiratory system and breath true the skin. Buth that is impossible if the skin isn't humid. If you try this check the animal all the time!
