I've heard it said that the wages of sin is death. I'm a bit dubious of that but I know for certain that the wages of rescuing a squirrel is becoming a human tree.

I picked one up a few weeks ago on my way down 276. He was sitting in the middle of the road waiting to be squashed. I pulled off and grabbed him at an apex, minus a cage he had to ride home in my camera bag.

I didn't really expect him to live through the first night but given direction, he soon was on esbilac and doing quite well. Several weeks later we are at the point where he hates everyone that comes in the house except for the dog and I. The squirrel is actually a greater threat to intruders than Kilo, my bull terrier at this point. Strange days, here's a chronological run down....

That is a very cute baby squirrel. :) There's nothing wrong with being a human tree. heh

I had one once that became very tame. My mom found him when his eyes and ears were still shut. We raised him successfully and were very creative in naming him "Rocky". He never bit and was very docile. He even came when he was called. He became a indoor/outdoor squirrel when he grew up. Kept coming back for a long time, till we went on vacation for 2 weeks. We could still see him hanging around the house, even then...he had no tail. When I was about 8 years old, I sat on it and accidentally pulled it off. Of course I was sad, but it was always easy to recognize Rocky the stub-tailed squirrel sitting in the oak in our front yard!

Very cute indeed:D
My wife does wildlife rehab, specializing in squirrels, so if you ever have any questions don't hesitate to ask:)
I know all about being a tree:D
