It is a new species described from specimens found in the British Museum that were collected in the 1930s. Using the WSC, navigate to the species detail page and you will see a log at the bottom that says "New species inserted." You can also determine that it is a new species by the full scientific name, Cyrtopholis montserrat Sherwood, Gabriel, Questel, Rollard & Leguin, 2024. The people who originally described and published the species description are shown after the specific epithet then the year the species description was originally published. A species that has been transferred to or from another genus would have the author(s) and year enclosed in parentheses.I am still trying to navigate the ācatalogueā, and how it works.
is it really new, or just placed where it should be?
