Cypress mulch?

Is it okay to use cypress mulch as a substrate for a Poecilotheria? I figure it'd be fine, since they're arboreal and wouldn't be inclined to burrow, and cypress mulch holds moisture well and is almost mold-resistant. I use it for my humidity-loving reptiles. Any downsides to using it for Ts that I haven't thought of? (I think I can take out the biggest pieces so it won't be harmful if the T falls.)

I did a few searches and saw that some people believe it to be toxic to Ts like cedar, but if it's okay for small reptiles why wouldn't it be okay for Ts?

Cypress and cedar are evergreens. They give off oils in the bark (which is one reason cedar is used for closets) that are insect repellents. In addition, many people are allergic to cedar oils. I would avoid it for a tarantula. I personally cannot use it with any animal, I break out in itchy hives around the oils.
