I have been trying to find some information about this species. I know the basic care requirements of tarantulas, but I was hoping to narrow down care more on this particular species. There really isnt much on it on google or you tube. I got a sling in a mystery box. Thanks

They were formerly Metriopelma velox, and then Pseudhapalopus velox after that. Maybe searching by those names will yield more results. I've never kept this species, but assuming they behave somewhat similarly to other Pseudhapalopus, they'll likely appreciate a little moisture in the substrate and will be pretty skittish, but not prone to threat displays or flicking hairs. My Pseudhapalopus species tend to burrow extensively, but they spend a fair amount of time above ground.

I picked one up from the recent fear not sale as well. According to the moderator that announced the reveal they like a little moisture and are from Ecuador.

I'm no expert myself on this species and curious what others know as well.

So I'm far keeping them the way I keep many of my burrowing slings. It has plenty of burrowing depth as I heard they have fossorial tendencies. Keeping the bottom layers of the substrate damp (not soaking).

So far It's spent most of it's time underground, but it has come out to eat some pre-killed crickets.

They went through a name change in 2020, prior to that called Pseudhapalopus https://wsc.nmbe.ch/species/37691 might help checking some of the older names, though my understanding is this species is pretty new to the hobby so there might not be a lot out there in general.

Both Fearnot and Spidershoppe are selling these at the moment, if you want more information you could send an email to both places and ask what general information they have - never hurts to ask.

Sure thing, let us know if you learn anything new. I'm sure others will start picking these up and will probably end up coming across this thread until more information is out there.

Unfortunately this was all I was able to get from them.

That species had a recent name change and has gone through several over the years. You might try looking up Pseudhapalopus velox as more information might be found. This is our first time with this species as well but from what we understand, keeping them as most all spiderlings are kept works great as they don't need any special treatment.
