Here's a cute little guy I caught last night. They have their own little terrarium set up and I already fed them!
They're so cute!!!

My first thought was Wolf spider but looking closer at the patterns, I'm not sure, but maybe I'm overthinking it lol! So maybe I could get some help with ID!

Either way it's absolutely adorable. 😊

Definitely, a wolf spider. I'm the proud owner of one Carolina wolf spider, 2 Tigrosa annexas, and a rabid wolf spider. Not quite sure what species of wolf spider yours is, though. My insect app keeps trying to say it's a tigrosa annexa, but all the ones I've seen don't have patterns like that on their abdomen. Seems to look like some sort of Hogna to me, but I'm still learning my wolf spiders lol. I do have to say, though, that I love having wolf spiders. Congratulations on your find.

Yeah I want a lot more! They're beautiful! I can't seem to find any wolf spider with these exact markings. But maybe they don't need to be exact? I'm not sure. You're probably right that it's just a Hogna. I was also looking through the schizocosa genus since a few looked very close. I'm still trying to find some way to identify it but I'm not really caring at this point. But yeah, they're fun. Thank you!

Just google Lycosidae and the place you´re living...
"You're probably right that it's just a Hogna." ??? As good as every other wolf spider!

I was just kidding! ;)
Ok 😅 I don't know how to tell sarcasm in real life, much less over forums and the internet.

Also I have done searches with my state and wolf spiders. I haven't found anything conclusive. There's quite a few that have similar patterns to this one but I'm just not sure. Honestly I don't really care anymore, 😅🤣

I know wolf spiders are harmless, but for some reason I just can't shake my innate fear of them. Maybe its the eyes and how fast they move.

That makes sense! Personally I think the eyes are what makes them adorable! And yeah they're fast. That doesn't bother me as much personally, though.

The arrangement of the eyes is one of the many things that make lycosidae so attractive. Yes, they're fast, but few species are so easy to care for, unable to navigate smooth surfaces (exceptions like L. fasciiventris prove the rule). I built a complete shelf for the wolves!

Ooh cool! I may just start getting some more!
Do you think it's ok to catch and keep some more of them? There's always tons in and around my house but I don't want to destroy the population.

No chance to destroy the population. I think lycosidae will survive our stupid race! 😉
But most times you will find matured males.
