A while ago I made this tank for my A. avic adult female : http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/sho...Nano-Set-up-for-A.-avic&highlight=custom+nano

A couple months ago I acquired an adult female P. regalis and decided to make something similar. I used the same technique, however instead of using silicone to hold the bark in place, this time I used Great Stuff expanding foam. It actually worked much better, as it filled in gaps/cracks much more easily. After it dried, I went back through and added silicone where needed and put dried eco earth over the wet silicone. I let it sit for a week before adding my T.

I am pleased with how the background turned out, but would like to add more soil, cork tubes, and different foliage in the future. Tesla has since webbed herself into the cork tube...not sure if she is getting ready to molt or not, but once she lets herself out I will most likely update the tank some more.

With the Great Stuff, I sprayed it on the back of the tank in lines...maybe about an inch or so apart each, and then put the bark down. The Great Stuff really expands, so it oozed out in some places. I cleaned it away as it expanded out so that it wouldnt get caught in the bark. In other places I just let it ooze, and then cut it away with a razor blade when it was dry. Any spots that were showing the Great Stuff when it was dry, I put silicone over, and then put dry eco earth on it.

Here is a picture of the full tank. It is a 12x12x18 ExoTerra.

The Great Stuff was really handy to use this time around because the background is actually made of two very large pieces of bark. When I put them down on the glass they didnt lay completely flush against it (in some places there was a 1 inch gap or more). The Great Stuff filled the gaps easily and I used much less of it than I would have used if I used silicone. On the other tank I made, the background was made of smaller pieces of bark that fit more or less flush against the glass, so the Great Stuff wouldnt have been as much of an advantage.
