Well Out of 5 S. calceatum this bugger was number 4 in line to molt. The others molted fine but having been away from home the past few days I wasnt able to check up on this one.
So after a bit of exuvium removal, the damage was quite severe. When I discovered the sling, he only had these limbs free from the molt and it was clear that the hardening process had advanced to a point where simply removing the exuvia would be a simple fix.
After examing the spider a couple of the legs were already disconnected. After removing the skin, a few other legs were freed but they were bent in the most unusual directions and the spider was not using them. These legs were removed in hopes that upon the next molt, the healing process can begin.
The result. CUATRO!
I dont name my Ts but this one was deserving. Cuatro will be left to harden up and hopefully in the next few days he can pull through. Being that he only has legs on one side he may not be an 'ambiturner' (zoolander reference) BUT the thing is still perky considering what it just went through.
