Cricket babies...

Today in the morning when I checked my spiders, I noticed in my P. cambridgei enclosure a lot of cricket babies running around... Now I wonder what to do? I consider substrate changing but it can be a problem... The T is about 3,5" and she settled her down very good in her cage. She prepared a big castle made from web and substrate right under the cork bar and on the bottom of the enclosure... I wish I did not disturb her... But of course if it would be the only way to get rid of these cricket babies, I will do this :)
But maybe someone knows another successful way to throw all these babies away... What do you suggest? :?

Take away the water dish and let things dry out for a few days. Unless your T is in imminent pre-moult or otherwise incapacitated, a bunch of pinheads aren't going to do anything worse than deal out some irritation. But, the little buggers need a moist environment to live long, so dry things out and they'll all be dead within days.

If you didn't have things so consistently moist at all times in general, you'd never have them hatch in the first place. Letting tanks dry completely (where possible) every few weeks does wonders for avoiding mites and pinheads.

Ya i have some babies crawling in a couple of my tanks too, i have stopped putting full grown females in tanks where the tarantula wont eat them right away, for them i just put males in the tank and let them do their thing. Usually anytime i put females in the tanks i watch and make sure they get eaten and if not i trade them for a male cricket instead. But usually most of my tarantulas will eat them as soon as they hit the ground. Do what code monkey said, just let the tanks dry out and they will eventually die off and the humidity thing isnt a big deal as I have found and been told several times by people that have owned tarantulas for a long time that what really matters is a water dish. All of my tarantulas are still kicking, eating and seem very healthy even without the frequent mistings. Good luck getting rid of the pests.

but before you kill them all grab some for your smaller slings (or send them to me for mine :) ) Just scoop them up with a thin piece of rigid paper.

Or, put a vial in the tank with a bit of raw potato or orange in it. When the herd goes in to eat, slap that top on and you've got yourself some delicious, nutritious, home-grown pinheads! Nummy!

Thank you for all advices :)
I will let the substrate dry and I hope they will be gone...

Jeff, I thought about catching some of them for my slings (actually I was thinking about the method MizM :) mentioned) and I would love to share them with you but I think they all would be dead when they arrive U.S. ;)
