Got an awesome deal on a 18"sq ExoTerra. $30!! Minor crack on one of the sides. Shouldn't pose a problem. :D I think I've got everything just the way I want it now!

I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on if I should add anything else or do anything else... There's a small piece of cork bark down on the bottom if/when they might want to hide on the floor & it seems Olive loves the new waterfall as well. I will be getting a low wattage basking lamp to rest on top of the viv tomorrow.

Now, I should be able to house 2 maybe 3 in here no problem right? We're debating on getting another male tomorrow. Then I'd like to know if we can/can't get another female in the future for this size of enclosure.

A cork bark slab or big tube would give her some more cover and a few more plants... live even help maintain humidity :) It's a nice looking viv and has a lot of potential.. just be careful if you feed her insects in there, as the substrate can pose an impaction risk when she's dive bombing.

Already have the cork bark in there, added some more plants (Fake for now until I get bold enough to try live ones), also added a nice little basking heat lamp (50 watts about 3-4 inches from the top of the viv). As for the crickets, I read somewhere on pangea that some people but the criks in a jar that's large enough to let the gecks in & out but no escapee crickets. I'm thinking plastic so if they divebomb the jar, it won't hurt them.

Sounds good... just keep a close eye on the basking lamp and temps it creates. 80F is very stressful to Cresteds.. anything exceeding that can be serious and lead to fatality.

And My Wife (Purpleflutterby) Just got ANOTHER one.... Actucally, I Picked it up for her Yesterday...So Now We've got 3, 4 if you Count Stubby who's Still MIA...
I forgot what she called the Female I got, But I think that's plenty of them for now...

BUT it works out in my favor too~ The Wife is getting into Reptiles, And If She Gets to keep her Cresteds (which I have NO problem with whatso ever) Then I get to Keep my Tarantulas :p

Are you absolutely sure you need this? Internet says they do fine with temps in the 70s during the day (room temp), but excessive heat could kill them.

With the way that My wife set them up, The Light is About 2' away from the top of the cage, It's just enough to keep the cage at about 74 to 77 degrees...And The light only comes on at night...During the day, We keep the house around 73 because of my T's And the Rest of our zoo...So I'd gather from what she's told me and what I've read about these little guys, We're In good shape ;)

I love my husband but he has NO freakin clue what he's talking about!

Technically, you're right mushroom, they don't require heat lamps (or UVB lamps for that matter).

My husband is COMPLETELY off ~ The lamp is exactly 6 inches from the top of the viv (I just measured! lol) ~ Maybe 8-9 from the top of their branch. He is correct about the day temp but I DO NOT have the light on at night! ONLY DAY! For approx 4 hours in the afternoon. The lamp raises the temp just slightly (about 3 degrees) at the top of the viv only. (Being it's hovering over a screen) Min temp in the viv is 69 at night & absolute max is 78 during the day under the basking lamp. Otherwise, they are at room temp. :D

I have done quite a bit of research on these little guys (although there is always more to learn), my husband only knows what little bit I have told him & what (if any) research he has done himself.

BUT it works out in my favor too~ The Wife is getting into Reptiles, And If She Gets to keep her Cresteds (which I have NO problem with whatso ever) Then I get to Keep my Tarantulas :p
Glad to see there was an ultimatium that I didn't know about!! You know the deal, ONE more of those guys gets out & bites MY dogs again then they all are going out the window!

For the record, you picked this last one up WITHOUT my knowledge! You called me AFTER you bought her! I am a firm believer in not buying an animal for someone as a surprise. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful, but if you would have asked, then you would have know my limitations & the fact that I didn't want anymore until if/when we found Stubby!

Thats Why YOU deal with the Gecko's, I Deal with the Spiders :D
and I know I'm "Completely off" LOL, I've been that way for years now...It just progressively keeps getting worse and worse...Nothing too unusual, Just life when ya get old.

As far as what she's saying, I Would agree that I dont deal with these much and I dont research them, so she's got the knowledge in the house about 'em...And I'm not going to turn this forum into a Wife/Husband battle ground either :)

The Cresteds, 3/4 of the dogs & the Pirahna are my deal. Everything else I could give a s*** less about ;) I'm just the one getting stuck feeding & caring for most of them. Sounds like I have a kid that took too many animals in! :D

You guys are hilarious!! Out of all the critters in my Zoo, my hubby only claims one of em... only buys food for one of em, too... and that is Aneesa, our cat! He still doesn't clean up after her, nor does he feed her. {D

Bah ~ It Doesnt matter one way or another...I Love you Just as Much As you Love me :D Its NOT Always Equal when I'm at home either....But That's Ok...We Both Do What we have to do when it comes to the animals...Either way, all the matters IS We Love Each other...Doesnt matter who Does what or when as far as I'm concerned ;)
